Local Unit & Position Description
The Structural Engineering Team within the Civil (Structural and Geotechnical) Engineering Group are looking for a Senior Structural Engineer .
Your role will require supporting the team with business development, project management, technical delivery, service development and development of others.
You will have a chance to interface with a wide range of disciplines within the company and work with clients such as private developers, local governments, design consultancies and construction contractors.
Typical projects include structural analysis, design and appraisals (concrete and steel) that are interfacing with or being constructed adjacent to onshore gas infrastructure within the UK.
Your main tasks will be to :
Interface with clients and assist in developing new business opportunities.
Prepare bid documentation to ensure bids are delivered within agreed timescales and to clients’ expectations.
Manage projects to ensure that the clients’ scope is delivered within the timeframe, costs and agreed quality standards following internal regulations.
Ensure that site visits, project reports / drawings and other forms of documentation follow the high standards expected by our client.
Travel within the UK and overseas for various periods will be required.
Position Qualifications
To qualify, we need you to have :
At least a Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or another relevant discipline.
Significant experience in a technical leadership role with direct involvement in the design process.
Experience in working with British Standards and Highway Standards (in particular Eurocode 2, Eurocode 3 and DMRB).
Full driving licence.
Below elements, although not required, will be considered a plus :
A Chartered Engineer with some years of post-chartered experience, including knowledge of construction activities.
Experience in working with the UK Gas Industry Civil Engineering (CE) suite of specifications for the 'Design, Construction and Testing of Civil and Structural Works'.
Knowledge and Experience of Health and Safety, including CDM Regulations 2015 and the ability to write method statements and undertake Risk Assessments.
Experience of working with 'Tedds', 'AutoCAD' and 'STAAD Pro'.
Holder of a valid and up-to-date CSCS’ card and Confined Space Training.
