Our team's focus is helping the parts of Spotify that want to build great products but don't want to deal with the complexities of taking payments or paying out to creators.
We want to take those complexities and manage them, so that the rest of Spotify can focus on building great products. To do that we're investing heavily into creating a Commerce Platform as we reimagine the capabilities we need to best serve Spotify's current and future commerce goals.
Those capabilities start at paying money out to creators - right now you can sell ads-space in your podcast via Anchor - and selling products to fans - we currently power every purchase of Spotify Premium.
But that is only the start. How do you build a flexible platform to power the lofty products that people around Spotify want to build?
How do you create systems that bring the buyer and the seller together so that fans are purchasing directly from creators?
How do you support buyers and sellers through their issues, whenever they need help? How do you do these things in a safe, reliable way for everyone involved?
How do you abstract away the intricacies of global financial regulation without creating barriers? And how do you make it easy?
