Local Unit & Position Description

Bladed is the global industry-leading wind turbine design tool used for analysis of onshore, offshore and floating wind turbines.

As demand for Bladed continues to grow, the team are seeking a Pre-Sales Lead to support the sales team, drive improvements to Pre-Sales and training resources, and help to promote the product to the market.

Key activities

1. Support the sales team during the sales process.

  • Present Bladed to prospective customers and answer technical questions about the software and its applications.
  • Work with customers to understand technical needs in relation to Bladed’s current and potential capabilities. Gather objective customer feedback to feed into Bladed development roadmap.
  • 2. Drive improvement of pre-sales resources and processes.

  • Improve and generate new pre-sales materials such as presentations and demos.
  • Empower and coach other team members to carry out pre-sales activities and generate pre-sales resources.
  • Drive the development of the Bladed online e-learning and virtual training offerings, and deliver technical training.
  • Lead content generation for Bladed online resources (e.g. Bladed website) to allow potential customers to learn the full value of the product.
  • Network with market facing colleagues across DNV, such as the Sesam team and Energy Advisory teams, to develop combined service and software sales opportunities.
  • 3. Thought leadership.

  • Work with the Bladed and marketing teams to provide thought leadership to relevant markets through presentation at conferences, open-days, publications, articles, webinars, etc.
  • Co-ordinate software open days and training events.
  • 4. Support our users.

  • Keep product knowledge and technical skills up to date by contributing to technical support and customer success activities for existing customers.
  • Travel

    The role has a global remit and, when permissible, will require occasional international travel to customer sites, other DNV locations, conferences, trade and industry events (approximately every 1-2 months).

    Location and flexible working

    The position is available at our main office locations of Bristol, London, Hamburg, Aarhus or Oslo. Other European locations with DNV offices may be considered for the right candidate.

    This role, subject to individual agreement, is suitable for people able to work between 30 and 37.5 hours per week and is offered with flexibility on daily hours.

    Hybrid working is now common practice within DNV, with a mixture of home working and office-based work for 2 or more days per week.

    Position Qualifications

    The role is suitable for someone with exceptional communication, presentation and organisational skills. The candidate should be an experienced user of Bladed or similar software, with significant experience with customer engagement, and preferably have an existing network within the renewables industry.

    Required skills

  • Experienced user of Bladed or other similar tools such as HAWC2, OpenFast, OrcaFlex etc. (must have)
  • Solid high-level understanding of the main relevant technical areas for Bladed such as aerodynamics, structural dynamics, hydrodynamics, loads analysis etc.
  • Desire to be in a customer focused role
  • Experience in business or sales related role, especially related to technical software is beneficial.
